EV Charger Installation

Charge smarter. Drive further. Installed properly.

What it involves

A home EV charger (also called a wallbox) allows you to charge your electric vehicle at 7kW — roughly 10x faster than a standard 3-pin plug. We install tethered and untethered chargers from leading brands, including smart chargers that allow scheduling, app control and solar self-consumption. Every installation includes a dedicated circuit from your consumer unit, a suitable isolator, and full electrical certification.

Why it matters

Charging from a standard 3-pin socket at home is slow (typically 8–12 hours for a full charge) and not designed for sustained overnight charging loads. A dedicated wallbox charges most EVs in 4–8 hours, is weather-rated for outdoor use, and includes safety features that a domestic socket can't provide. If you have solar panels, a smart charger can be set to charge your vehicle only when your panels are producing — reducing your running cost significantly.

Frequently asked questions

We work with Ohme, Easee, Zappi, Andersen and others. We'll recommend the right unit for your setup — particularly if you have or plan to add solar panels, as some chargers integrate far better with solar diversion.
The OZEV Electric Vehicle Chargepoint Grant is available to flat and apartment residents. Standalone houses are currently ineligible for the domestic grant, but businesses and landlords can still apply for workplace and residential grants respectively.
Not necessarily, but it's worth switching to an EV-optimised tariff (such as Octopus Go or Intelligent Octopus) to charge at lower overnight rates. Smart chargers make this easy to schedule.
We'll assess this as part of the site visit. If your consumer unit needs upgrading before a dedicated EV circuit can be added safely, we'll quote for both together.
Most home EV charger installations are completed in half a day. You'll receive an Electrical Installation Certificate on completion.

Typical cost range

£700 – £1,200

Installation cost depends on the distance from consumer unit to charger location, cable routing complexity, and whether your consumer unit needs upgrading first. The charger unit itself is additional — typical wallboxes range from £400 to £900 depending on brand and features. We supply and install as a single fixed-price package.
